Create a Story!

Use your imagination and memories to create a story of your own! Children will be guided through the foundations of story creation through ideas, pictures, language and structure.

The Create a Story! session will begin with a reading of one of our publications, along with questions about what children notice throughout the book. We go through the foundations of story creation before children think of a past memory to work with. At the end, children will take home their story creation and learn the basics of storytelling.

Haiku Writing

Our Haiku Writing workshops are inspired by cinnamon art stories International Haiku Prize, which was created in 2021 to encourage creativity and empower children through their imagination, confidence and communication.

Participants will learn how to transform their thoughts and memories into a tangible and poetic creation, haiku.

Each haiku writing session will begin with explanation of the fundamentals of haiku and Japanese aesthetics, followed by a reading of famous haiku. Children will think of a past memory to work with, and be guided through the communication, language, structure and poetry of their creation. At the end, children will take home their haiku creation and learn how to read their haiku with expression.
